Postdoctoral Fellows (Research)
Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
Postdoctoral research fellowships are an integral part of our research-intensive department. Individuals who have completed or are expecting to complete PhD, MD, or MD/PhD studies can enquire about the possibility of conducting a postdoctoral research fellowship under the supervision of our faculty members by contacting them directly. Faculty members will mentor postdoctoral fellows during their transition from PhD and/or MD studies to an independent career in research and related fields within the academic, governmental, or private sector. The central part of a research fellowship training focuses on the successful completion of an exciting research project under the guidance of a faculty member culminating into publications that help prepare and propel the fellow into an independent career as a scientist or clinician-scientist. Our fellows benefit from the breadth and depth of LMP, which also provides great opportunities to interact with additional mentors, scientists and clinicians within the Faculty of Medicine, Toronto Discovery District, and overall broad research community within the city of Toronto. Postdoctoral research fellows are supported by their respective faculty member and/or various fellowship awards from funding bodies such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Prospective fellows typically coordinate with the faculty member supervisor to apply for such external awards.
