Speaker bio: Dr. Warren Lee, MD, PhD
Dr. Lee received his M.D. from the University of Toronto and was awarded the Cody Gold Medal. He did residencies in Internal Medicine, Respirology, and Critical Care Medicine in Toronto. He completed a PhD in the Program in Cell Biology in the lab of Sergio Grinstein (SickKids) and postdoctoral training in Microbiology and Immunology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in the lab of Carl F. Nathan (New York).
Dr. Lee is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and is cross-appointed to LMP and Biochemistry; he is an attending physician in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit of St. Michael’s Hospital. His research focuses on endothelial biology and innate immunity, with specific application to diseases like atherosclerosis and acute lung injury. His work has appeared in journals such as PNAS, Cell Host and Microbe, Science Translational Medicine, and ATVB. Dr. Lee holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Mechanisms of Endothelial Permeability.
