MDS-PAS Movement Disorders for Basic Scientists: From the Clinic to the Lab
From The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS).
This course will provide opportunities for basic scientists to recognize unanswered questions in movement disorders and to discuss approaches to discovering the answers with clinician-scientists. The course will also provide basic science trainees with information to pursue clinically relevant research questions and aspiring clinician-scientists with exposure to role models in the MDS-PAS.
Upon completion of this activity you will be able to:
- Define the clinical features of essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, Huntington’s disease, and hereditary cerebellar ataxia
- Identify important unmet needs in diagnostics and therapeutics for movement disorders
- Apply basic science approaches, including molecular biology methods and experimental models, to advance our understanding of movement disorders to address the major unmet needs
Audience
This activity is intended for Basic Science Researchers, Translational Researchers, Movement Disorder Specialists, Movement Disorders Fellows, Neurologist Residents, Medical Students, Graduate Students, and Post-doctorate Fellows.
