Molecular Pathology for Surgical Pathologists community of interest meeting: Interpretation
On behalf of The Office of Continuous Professional Development at the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology, University of Toronto, we invite you to join us for The Community of Interest Molecular Pathology for Surgical Pathologists meeting.
Both academic and community pathologists are encouraged to attend this basic course in molecular pathology.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this series of meetings, participants will be able to:
- Understand clinical molecular reports
- Integrate molecular results into their surgical pathology interpretations
- Map the workflow in molecular pathology from specimen handling through sequencing, bioinformatics, interpretation and reporting.
- Select the most suitable molecular assay for a given clinical question
- Understand common preanalytical factors that can impact molecular testing
Also in this session:
- Classify common somatic variants by oncogenicity and actionability schemes
- Navigate and utilize publically available databases for understanding somatic variant classification
- Request molecular tests according to the CCO coverage and requirements
