Speaker: Qiumin Tan
Dr. Tan is a Canada Research Chair in Molecular Genetics of Human Disease and an assistant professor in the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Alberta.
Her research focuses on early brain development and adult neurogenesis—the life-long extension of brain development. A particular interest of her lab is the CIC haploinsufficiency syndrome, a neurodevelopmental syndrome first reported by Dr. Tan and her colleagues.
Dr. Tan is applying her knowledge of neural development to understand the pathomechanisms of neurodevelopmental disorders and to shed light onto new pathways for therapeutic intervention in these disorders.
