The LMP Research Conference and Product Show (LMPRC) 2023
We are delighted to announce the LMP Research Conference and Product Show for 2023!
Join us as we celebrate and share the research conducted in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology.
The day will consist of:

graduate student poster presentations

postgraduate research poster presentations
-
talks from experts in precision medicine
-
development sessions including mentoring
-
an exhibitor hall featuring laboratory product and equipment suppliers
-
lots of networking

How to register
Those submitting abstracts must also register separately.
Faculty interested in judging abstracts and posters can indicate so in the registration form.
If you registered to attend the LMPRC last year, your details will be saved so log into your account (or reset password if you don't remember).
Deadline for registration is May 19, 2023.

Information for graduate students and postgraduates: abstract submissions
Who should submit and abstract and how
Abstract submission is now closed.
You must register for the conference in addition to submitting an abstract.
All graduate and postgraduate learners in LMP are invited to present a poster at the conference.
It is compulsory for the following learners to submit an abstract:
- Second year MSc students
- Second and fourth year PhD students
- Second-year Translational Research Program students (capstone project presentations)
- PGY2, PGY3 and PGY 4 Anatomical Pathology and Hematopathology residents
Not compulsory, but strongly encouraged:
- Second-year MHSc in Laboratory Medicine students (capstone project presentations)
- All Medical Microbiology residents and all Clinical Microbiology trainees – you must present your research at the LMPRC at least once during your training and you must attend the LMPRC every year
- Clinical Chemistry trainees - we encourage you to present
- All other LMP residents must attend and we encourage you to present.
Don't forgot to register for the conference which is a separate process!

Information for judges
Judging opportunities
There are two opportunities for judging. Postgraduate judges are recruited separately - please contact lmp.pg@utoronto.ca if you'd like to judge postgraduate posters and have not been appraoched.
Indicate on the registration form if you would like to judge and what you would like to do.
Abstract judging
Abstract judging involves ranking each abstract on a scale of 1-10 (1 -= excellent abstract and 10 = poor).
Each judge will receive around 5 - 16 abstracts depending on the number of abstract submitted for their research group/area. The abstract with highest average rank will be chosen for a oral presentation.
When: March 13 – April 17
Poster judging
Judge poster presentations on the day - you can sign up to judge specific sessions to match your plans for the day.

This event is eligible for Continuing Professional Development credits from the Royal College Maintenance of Certification Section 1: 6.0 hours.

Several vendors will be available to speak to you. Please visit them during the conference. See below for confirmed vendors so far.
You will also have an opportunity to meet the Health Data Nexus team from the Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM).
COVID-19 protocols
Although there are no masking requirements, we strongly recommend you wear a mask at this event where feasible.
If you have any possible COVID-19 symptoms on the day, we ask you to stay home. If you are due to present a poster and can no longer do so due to illness, please let us know by emailing lmp.rc@utoronto.ca.
The COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving so this advice may change.
Photography and videos
A professional photographer will be at the event and we will also be doing some video recordings for departmental purposes.
If you do not wish to be in any of the photos or videos, please make yourself known to the person taking pictures or videos.
