“Prior to joining LMP, I completed my medical education at the University of Ottawa and also hold an international medical degree from Africa where I served as a military physician. 

At LMP, I am eager to refine my diagnostic knowledge and gain broad exposure to the diverse subspecialties within pathology. I look forward to learning from leading experts in the field and actively contributing to a dynamic, collaborative academic environment.

While I have not yet selected a specific subspecialty, I remain open-minded and deeply committed to advancing my clinical competencies, contributing to medical education, and engaging in research initiatives.”  

“Before joining LMP, I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, followed by my MD at the University of Toronto. During pre-clerkship, I co-led the Lab Medicine Interest Group at U of T for two years, where I had the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for pathology and diagnostic medicine with my peers.

As an incoming resident in the Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology program, I am excited to explore the breadth of pathology and continue developing expertise in diagnostic medicine. I look forward to gaining hands-on experience, refining my diagnostic skills, and learning from leaders in the field at world-renowned institutions. I am also eager to build meaningful connections with my co-residents and continue engaging in teaching and mentorship opportunities with medical students and fellow trainees.”

“Before joining LMP, I worked as a Research Associate at Sunnybrook Research Institute on a project related to prognostic and predictive biomarkers in DCIS (Ductal carcinoma in situ - a non-invasive, early-stage breast cancer). I am originally from Lebanon, where I completed my MD at the Lebanese American University, and then did residency training in Anatomical Pathology at the American University of Beirut.

I am excited to begin this new learning journey at the University of Toronto. My goal is to continue building my knowledge across the many areas of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology while training in a strong and supportive academic environment. I feel very fortunate to be part of this program and look forward to meeting, learning, and working with new colleagues and co-residents.”

“Before joining LMP, I graduated from medical school in Iran in 2020 and worked as a general physician for over three years. I then moved to Canada to pursue studies in computer science at Concordia University. During this time, I became involved in projects focused on computational pathology and the application of artificial intelligence in pathology, which strengthened my interest in the field.

At LMP, I am truly enthusiastic about the opportunities this program offers. I aim to further expand my knowledge and develop the skills necessary to become a competent pathologist. I also look forward to working collaboratively with colleagues and mentors within the program.”

"Prior to joining LMP, I completed a PhD in Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen's University, where my research focused on multiplexing techniques, image analysis and biomarker discovery. I am originally from Alexandria, Egypt, where I completed my medical degree and a postgraduate Anatomical Pathology residency training.

As I join LMP, I am eager to learn from and collaborate with experienced faculty and talented colleagues. I am excited to be part of a department where teamwork, innovation, and academic growth come together. I look forward to making a positive contribution to the LMP community.”

“Before joining LMP, I completed both my BSc and MSc next door in the Department of Molecular Genetics, where my research focused on post-transcriptional gene regulation. After completing my medical degree at Queen’s University, I am excited to return home to Toronto.

I am eager to explore different pathology subspecialties and continue my research endeavors as they relate to the burgeoning fields of molecular pathology and AI. I look forward to learning from the renowned community of experts that shape LMP and honing my diagnostic skills alongside a wonderful group of residents.”  

“I graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. Prior to medical school, I completed a BMSc in Microbiology and Immunology.

I’m excited to learn from leading experts in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology, as well as explore the diverse subspecialties this field has to offer! I’m also looking forward to returning to my hometown of Toronto for the next step in my academic and professional career.”

“Prior to joining LMP, I completed my MD and PhD at the University of Toronto, with a longstanding passion for neuroscience.

As an incoming resident in Neuropathology, I am excited to build on my interests in neurooncology, neurodegeneration, and advancing diagnostic approaches in this rapidly evolving field.”

“I'm delighted to join LMP in Forensic Pathology, having completed my Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology residency training at the University of Ottawa. Prior to this, I earned my medical degree from the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (United Kingdom) and my MSc in Bioarchaeology (Human Osteology) from the University of Exeter (United Kingdom). 

I am excited to work within a large, world class team with diverse interests and to immerse myself full time in the specialty I love. My professional interests include forensic archaeology, botany, and public health advocacy.”

“I will be starting my PGY6 year in Forensic Pathology. I hope to gain lots of exposure to cool cases and develop my skills in forensics! Before PGY6, I was doing my residency in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology in LMP, so I never really left. But before that, I obtained my MD at McMaster University, where I also did my Master’s and Undergraduate studies.

I’m looking forward to continuing my time in this diverse community! I’m excited to see what forensic pathology training holds and I’m excited to meet my co-fellows. I’m also happy to be able to continue to work alongside the mentors that have supported me throughout residency and who are the best role models.”

“Before joining LMP, I completed my medical degree at Université Laval, followed by residency training in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology at Université de Sherbrooke.

At LMP, I will be pursuing subspecialty training in forensic pathology. I am particularly looking forward to deepening my diagnostic skills and refining my ability to integrate clinical, autopsy, and investigative findings into clear and meaningful conclusions.

I am especially interested in the global and humanitarian dimensions of forensic pathology, including medico-legal death investigation in disaster response and human rights settings.”

“I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of British Columbia in chemical biology and my PhD in organic chemistry at Stanford University. During my doctoral training, I became increasingly interested in the application of chemical principles to human health, particularly in the context of diagnostics and disease monitoring. 

I am excited to pursue clinical chemistry and look forward to bridging my background in organic chemistry with translational applications in medicine.”

"Before joining LMP’s Clinical Chemistry program, I pursued a PhD in Biology at the University of Waterloo, where I studied the structure and function of bacterial enzymes and their role in human disease. Through my research, I grew a passion for understanding and developing biochemical diagnostic tests, as they are often foundational to important discoveries and decisions. I see the clinical biochemistry profession as a way to continue this passion while applying myself towards something impactful and fulfilling.

I look forward to experiencing and learning from a wide range of topics pertinent to clinical service at LMP!”

“I completed my PhD in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia, based at the BC Centre for Disease Control, where I studied immune responses to coronaviruses in pregnancy to understand correlates of protection and disease, inform serological surveillance, and ultimately shape vaccine and public health considerations.

I am excited to join LMP for my postdoctoral training. I am eager to learn alongside leading experts as I foster my diagnostic expertise and build on my research foundation to help advance the future of clinical diagnostics to improve patient outcomes and population health. I am looking forward to contributing to and growing with the LMP community.”
