Accepting PhD students in collaboration with other Principal Investigators
I am a laboratory physician leader, diagnostic pathologist, medical educator, and clinician scientist with more than 35 years of experience in academic medicine, mostly at Queen's Health Sciences. I was amongst the first cohort of Canadian Certified Physician Executives and served as President of the Canadian Association of Pathologists and President of the Ontario Association of Pathologists.
My previous medical leadership interests have included population health management and value-based care with a focus on appropriateness of diagnostic laboratory testing.
Research synopsis
As an academic diagnostic pathologist, I have developed a national reputation for expertise in breast pathology. I have participated in several multidisciplinary and multi-institutional research studies in breast cancer molecular biology, epidemiology, and pathology.
I currently continue to publish, in collaboration with colleagues across Canada, in the field of HER2 testing in breast cancer.
More recently, I have developed an interest in the potential role of artificial intelligence in pathology, specifically the opportunity to reduce tedious, manual cell counting in tissues so that results for precision medicine can be standardized and simplified.
