Research in our residency programs
Laboratory Medicine professionals are, by definition, curious people and as a trainee in our residency programs, you will have the opportunity to conduct original research.
Our remarkable size and diversity and being based in the research powerhouse of the University of Toronto means we offer a fertile environment for extensive basic, translational and clinical research. Working with leading experts in their fields allows you unique opportunities to shape patient care and knowledge in the field.
Our residents publish in a variety of leading journals and present their research at national and international conferences, including the annual United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) conference. All residents must also present their research at certain points in their programs at our annual departmental conference, known as the LMPRC (The Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology Research Conference).
In addition to research opportunities in your training, you can embark on your MSc or PhD degree as part of the Clinician Investigator Program which is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
