LMP2208H: The Science of Biobanking

For Pathologists' Assistant students in the MHsc in Laboratory Medicine program.

This is a one-term (0.5 FCE) lecture/seminar course meeting weekly for two hours.

You will gain a strong understanding of Best Practices in biobank operations including topics such as:

  • governance and ethics
  • patient/donor identification and consent
  • specimen collection
  • processing, storage, and data annotation
  • retrieval for use in research studies.

You will also become familiar with facility requirements, staff training, and quality management needed to optimally support biomedical research.
