LMP1005H: Fundamentals of Research Practice

Who can attend

You must be enrolled in the LMP graduate program.

This is a mandatory requirement for all graduate students in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. 

Exclusion: LMP1404H

Course description

You will learn the skills you need to succeed as a research scientist.

You will learn how to:

  • design experiments
  • analyze and manage data,
  • critique published research.

You will also develop oral and written communication skills and learn how to address problems involving research ethics.

Lectures will be interactive and include group discussions and activities.

The course is offered in the Fall session. Starting September 29, 2025 for 8 weeks.

Mondays 10 am - 1 pm

Location: Room SF 3203 - Sandford Fleming Building, 10 King’s College Road

Evaluation methods

This course is credit/no credit (CR/NCR).

  • Assignments - 60%
  • Participation - 20%
  • Attendance - 20%

Late assignments are penalized at 10% per day.
