Dr. McKee is an experienced scientist and manager of multidisciplinary teams in academic and industry settings, with 20+ years of experience in the acquisition and analysis of medical image and microscopy data, and 10+ years managing computational teams that harness multiplex pathology and AI tools to drive research and development goals.

He has extensive collaborative experience working within the R&D ecosystem in Canada over the past 25 years, working closely with pathologists, radiologists, basic scientists, clinicians and pharmaceutical and CRO partners to utilize immunohistopathology, radiology (PET-CT) and machine learning and AI based analysis to assess the potential for biomarkers of drug response in both research and clinical trial settings.

Research Synopsis

My research is focused on the development of analytical pipelines and tools to be able to derive quantitative outputs from biomedical imaging, and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics datasets.

Rapid advances in these technologies has opened up the possibilities for advanced spatial biology interrogation of disease states; but the development of tools to be able to analyze this data have lagged behind our ability to produce these datasets.

My team focuses on the integration of these different modalities together, using both open-source and commercial software and tools to be able to handle large volumes of spatial data in a seamless and efficient manner.
