Our department was founded 25 years ago, from a merger of three departments: Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Microbiology. The name of LMP was chosen to reflect the combination of basic and clinical sciences and Laboratory Medicine.
But the name is long and the acronym, LMP, is not unique in our field in Toronto.
If you could change the name of our department, what would you call it?
Guidelines and rules
Only members of the LMP community can enter this competition – current and past students, trainees, faculty and staff.
The name needs to reflect who we are and what we do: Take a look at “About us” and our Strategic Plan. Does it align with our Mission, Vision and Values (see below)?
We prepare future leaders in laboratory medicine and pathobiology and improve the health outcomes of individuals and populations through the integration of innovative research, education, and clinical practice.
Our vision: what we work toward
We help societies get healthier by advancing the understanding and diagnosis of disease.
Our values: what we see in our people
We care about improving health for all
We strive for excellence
We collaborate to look at problems in new ways
We bring out the best in people
We are diverse and inclusive
We invest in the wellness of our people
We are agile in our response to emerging ideas and technologies
