Bo Wang
Assistant Professor at LMP and Computer Science

Professor Wang obtained his PhD from the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University in 2017. His PhD work focused on developing algorithms for solving problems in computational biology with an emphasis on cancer subtype prediction and single-cell analysis.

He leads the Artificial Intelligence (AI) team for Peter Munk Cardiac Center (PMCC) of the University Health Network (UHN).

Bo’s primary research areas are machine learning, computational biology, and computer vision. Through his long-term research goals, Bo aims to develop integrative and interpretable machine learning algorithms that can help clinicians with predictive models and decision support to tailor patients’ care to their unique clinical and genomic traits.

Muhammad Mamdani
Director, The Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM) 

Dr Mamdani founded the Ontario Drug Policy Research Network (ODPRN), the Li Ka Shing Centre for Healthcare Analytics Research and Training (LKS-CHART), and the Applied Health Research Centre (AHRC) at St. Michael’s Hospital. 

As part of his research, he has been collaborating with engineers, statisticians, clinicians, computer scientists and administrators at St. Michael’s Hospital to use innovations in data analytics to advance patient care. The team has implemented deep-learning algorithms that make use of real-time data to predict patient volume, staffing requirements and determine each patient’s needs.

Muhammad is now the director of The Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM). He is Professor at LMP, the Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine, the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation of the Dalla Lana Faculty of Public Health.

Laura Rosella
Associate Professor at LMP and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health

Dr Rosella is an Associate Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, where she holds a Canada Research Chair in Population Health Analytics, and is the Principal Investigator and Scientific Director of the Population Health Analytics Lab. She also holds the Inugural Stephen Family Chair in Community Health at the Institute for Better Health, Trillium Health Partners. 

Her research interests include population health, predictive models to support public health planning, and population health management.

Rahul Gopal Krishnan
Microsoft Research New England 

Dr Krishnan is currently a senior researcher at Microsoft Research New England, having completed his PhD working with Prof. David Sontag at MIT where he was part of the Clinical ML Group. 

He will be joining the University of Toronto in 2021, and appointed in both LMP and Computer Science. 

His research interests include probablistic inference in deep generative models, causality and applications of machine learning to healthcare.
