In 2020, the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine launched a brand-new professional graduate program educating Pathologists’ Assistants (PA) and Clinical Embryologists (CE): the MHSc in Laboratory Medicine.

Accepting five PA and five CE students every year, the rigorous two-year program trains high quality scientists who will acquire fundamental knowledge and practical skills to become leaders in their respective disciplines.

We are delighted to announce that the PA field has become an Institutional Member of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants. This membership offers our PA students access to a wealth of professional development resources, and to a network dedicated to maintaining the very high standards of the profession.

Program Director, Dr. Avrum Gotlieb commented, “This is another step forward in our journey and will be extremely useful to our PA students, providing them with international colleagues and additional educational opportunities to supplement their learning and become leaders within the PA discipline.”

Pathologists’ Assistant Field Director, Dr. Fang-I Lu added, “We’re working very hard to make this program excellent and being able to provide our students with further networking, development, and job opportunities adds so much value to the education and mentoring we already provide”.
