Ninth Floor: Film screening and Q & A

The Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Office (ARCDO) invites you to join us for our upcoming programming for Black History Month in February 2021.

These events are free and open to students, staff, faculty and external community members.

It started quietly when a group of Caribbean students, strangers in a cold new land, began to suspect their professor of racism. It ended in the most explosive student uprising Canada had ever known.

Join us for a screening of the film Ninth Floor by Mina Shum.

In her first feature-length documentary, director Mina Shum takes a penetrating look at the Sir George Williams University sit in of February 1969, when a protest against institutional racism snowballed into 14-day student occupation at the Montreal university.
