Inclusive community

Hosted by the Office of Inclusion & Diversity as part of the Temerty Medicine Community Connection series.

Monday, March 27, 2023
6:00 – 8:00 pm

In person at U of T, St. George Campus

Trans* individuals have traditionally been both under-represented, and under-recognized in the community of medical learners, and have been subject to discrimination, microaggressions, and exclusion from opportunities for advancement and recognition. Temerty Medicine recognizes the importance of demonstrating support of the trans* community, to create opportunities for networking, amplifying their advocacy efforts, and to support the growth, development, and personal and professional fulfillment of its trans* members.

The Trans* at Temerty Med event aims to create a space to empower trans* learners, staff and faculty to partner with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine to make progress towards these important goals.

We invite all learners, staff, and faculty members at Temerty Medicine Faculty of Medicine (TFoM) who identify as part of the trans* community to attend this evening. Clinicians or healthcare workers at any of the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN) hospital sites who identify in these ways are also invited and encouraged to attend.

Join us to reflect on the experiences of trans* students in medical education, identify gaps and barriers to medical & healthcare education for trans* learners, and engage in a solution-oriented discussion with actionable outcomes for how Temerty Medicine can work towards increasing trans* student representation and supporting trans* learners within the Faculty.

We invite allies and friends to spread the word about this opportunity to peers and colleagues who identify as part of the trans* community, and request that you continue to advocate for gender diversity and inclusion in your spheres of influence.
