Dr. Hodgson, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, has practiced as a specialist in gynecologic pathology at the Toronto General Hospital (University Health Network) since 2021. She functions as a member of a multidisciplinary group that cares for patients with all types of gynecologic malignancies and other diseases.
As a faculty member in the University of Toronto's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Dr. Hodgson works with and teaches medical students and pathology trainees at all levels.
Her enthusiasm, expertise and impact in the field is evidenced by academic recognition at local, national and international levels and in leading activities for organizations such as Cancer Care Ontario/Ontario Health, the HPV community of practice for the Gynecologic Oncology Society of Canada, and the International Society of Gynecological Pathologists, among others.'
Research Focus
Dr. Hodgson's primary research focus is in the classification and prognostication of cervical adenocarcinoma. Her expertise in this particular area has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and she is the lead or co-author on multiple chapters in the WHO 6th edition classification book on female genital tumours. Her other research interests include interobserver variability in gynecologic pathology, endometrial cancer and uterine mesenchymal neoplasm diagnostics, and neuroendorine neoplasia of the female genital tract.
