In the 2021 LMP Quality Council Workshop, a preliminary consensus of 10 quality indicators for the core laboratory were presented to the University of Toronto community with the aim of harmonization across the GTA.

The selected indicators align with IFCC recommendations for their high impact on patient safety.

Several UofT affiliated sites now participate in external assessments after overcoming challenges to data integrity and standardized reporting. With the ability to make meaningful comparisons to peers, high priority indicators are prompting action at the clinical interface.

This workshop will focus on experiences with turnaround time and hemolysis rates at different hospitals where indicators can make a difference.

We invite laboratory and hospital leadership with interest in laboratory quality management including technical staff, IT, etc. to join these discussions.

Objectives for this event

  • State current local, national and international initiatives for harmonization quality indicators
  • Identify strategies to optimize laboratory data collection
  • Communicate the value of laboratory quality to stakeholders

Host

Dr. Paul Yip

Associate Professor, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Sunnybrook Health Science Centre and University of Toronto
