Each month we speak to a member of the Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology community and find out more about them as part of an initiative from our Wellness, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee (WIDE).
This month we feature several of our undergraduate students in the Specialist Program in Pathobiology as we celebrate the graduating class of 2024. You can see a video (Youtube) and photos (Flickr) of our graduation celebration.
Meet Mika Sun!
At LMP, we study the molecular mechanisms of diseases and learn about the current research going on in the field.
I was interested in studying it because I really liked molecular biology and was curious to learn about how diseases occur. Since entering the program, I became really interested in regenerative medicine and cancer mechanisms which are topics that are taught in the LMP courses!
The most interesting thing I’ve done with LMP was planning the LMPSU conference, “Why Brain Matter Matters: Navigating Neurodegeneration” which was a huge success!
Take the time to think about what I want to do in the future. There is no rush!
I would say my mom and dad! They have supported me throughout all my years, from speed skating competitions to academics.
I can solve a Rubik’s cube in 12 seconds!
I really like to ice skate and ski/snowboard.
Album: Fearless by Taylor Swift

Novel: Goblet of Fire

Anywhere with snow!
I would bring a Rubik's cube since I would have a lot of free time to practice and get fast! I would also bring a good book (I would ask my sister for recommendations) because I would like to read more!
Visit the Humans of LMP page to read more stories and nominate yourself or others to be featured.
