Mitch De Snoo, a professional lacrosse player who plays defense for the Toronto Rock, was recently named Defensive Player of the Year by the National Lacrosse League (NLL), the world’s largest professional lacrosse organization.
He balances his sporting career with his scientific one as he is currently completing a MD/PhD at the University of Toronto.
Prior to his MD/PhD, he completed a masters in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology in 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Suneil Kalia. His thesis was on “Understanding the Role of the Co-Chaperone, Bcl-2 Associated Athanogene 5, in PINK1/parkin Dependent Mitophagy”.
